KOCIEWIE

SUBTLE KOCIEWIE

THE “SWEET LAND”

Hills with gentler slopes than those of Kashubia, better agricultural soil, fewer forests and fewer lakes, but there are still many…
The subtle beauty of towns and villages. Old houses in the countryside were delicately decorated – the possibility and willingness to make decorations resulted from a certain degree of wealth (and it was mainly the decorations that distinguished these houses from the crude buildings originally built in Kashubia).
Kociewie. Nice, less crowded.

There is a diocesan museum in the area full of an unusual collection of sculptures and paintings of medieval art in Poland. Personally I love it. It also holds within its collection a copy of the Gutenberg Bible – one of the few remaining originals in the world. All this in Pelplin and it is here also the tallest church in the world built of brick.
Quick access thanks to the highway.
